10/30/21 Sat - Arts in the Dark Parade - Chicago
10/30/21 Sat - Arts in the Dark Parade - Chicago
Event: 2021 Arts in the Dark Parade
Date: Saturday, October 30th, 2021
Venue: State Street between Lake and Van Buren
Address: Staging Area location details will be given soon.
Event Time: 6 pm - 8 pm
Arrival Time: Anytime after 4 pm
Secure Changing/Storing Area: Parking lot Change
Blaster Friendly: Yes
Comments: this will be our 3rd year participating this "Frigging Awesome" event and I'm hoping to have a good turn-out. What makes this event so different and great? We get to wear LED's (since it's at night time the look great, so get creative and gear-up on lights), it's short, (the route is just a few blocks long), the temperature is great (not hot summer heat or winter cold), and off course, Halloween is the greatest holiday of the year.

I have confirmed we can use my office suite for changing and storage etc (and yes washrooms too) . It's at the building with the Chicago theater at 177 N. State. As it's a Saturday evening I will have two passes for the front door and elevator.

I hate to, but I'm going to have to back out of this amazing event. Driving into the city and paying for downtown parking isn't an option for me at the moment.

For those are looking for inexpensive parking. Spot hero has rates for $14 starting at 6pm to 11:00 PM at 166 N Wabash Ave. - Wabash-Randolph Garage and 20 E Randolph St. - Wabash-Randolph Garage

OKay y'all, GCO handed this event off to me to EvCo so here we go.
PARADE ROUTE: Step-off is at Lake and State Street, and we walk 7 blocks south to Van Buren. This is a fairly slow parade at times as many of the other participants stop walking to perform.
ATTIRE: You want to have fun with your kit with lights and things? Bring it. But some decent layers is recommended. It's going to be about 45-55 degrees.
Before event: Eat well, hydrate. We'll try to bring water.
4:15 pm - EvCo arrives for check-in and banner pick-up at Wells & LaSalle
Optional: Bin storage and dressing: 20 E Randolph St Greg Ladle’s Office (Phone 708.369.6766)
5:15 pm - Must be in costume (bucket optional) at Wacker Drive, Lake to Wabash. We are number 58 of 67.
6 pm - Step-off on State Street. Walk 7 blocks.
8 pm or sooner - Disband at Van Buren Street. Suit down and leave Greg’s Office if used.
Keep this info handy on your phone, or a piece of paper:
- We are number 58.
- Staging is on West Wacker, between Clark & LaSalle.
- My phone number is 312-576-8190.
Vaccines/distancing/masking: this is the parade's official text:
- Recommend masking for all participants age 2 and older, regardless of vaccination status, whenever social distancing cannot be maintained. Masks are recommended for everyone in crowded outdoor settings where vaccination status of attendees is not known.
- Recommend social distancing of at least 6 feet between parties.
- Staff and participants should not attend if they have any symptoms of COVID-19, even if they are fully vaccinated.
- Unvaccinated individuals with a close contact exposure in the last 14 days should be advised not to attend.
- Performers may remove masks while performing if everyone on the stage/in the performance area is fully vaccinated and they maintain at least 6-ft distancing from the audience at all times.
- Unvaccinated performers may remove masks while performing outdoors if able to maintain 6 feet of distance from audience and other performers at all times.
- LUMA8 strongly recommends vaccination for all participants 12 and older.
