IL, Bloomington Prairie Air Museum Day at the Airport
Mission Report:
IL. Bloomington, Prairie Air Museum Day at the Airport
Saturday, September 18, 2010
This event was in support of the Prairie Air Museum's fund raising efforts as an educational resource on Aviation to the Public. We were allowed a large area to set up our display area as well as a dressing area with a view of the hanger. While not an "airshow" the Day at the Airport drew attention to the museum's exhibit display and their continued work to maintain their exhibits.
My thanks to Aimee, Cheryl, Steve, Bryan and Fitz, for coming out for most of the day and Phyllis for all of their efforts. Thanks to Kyle and Jim for helping to unload and set up the booth. We were happy to visit with Crix and his family what a cute group. Thanks to Jody for allowing us to use the booth display.
Participants:
Jim "Targ" DeJan TI/ID-3853 Coordinator
Emily DeJan ID-1802 Tat Practitioner
Phyllis Schulte (Sorry Phyllis, senior moment) (Schph Gochi) Rebel Target R2 Wrangler

I can place the full-size photo online if you would like it, but I didn't want to bog down the email with it.

Targ,
Thanks for setting up another great event out at the airport! This was my first time out there, and it was pretty darn cool! And it's always great to see the Death Star deployed for a kill.
That message is awesome, Jim! It's so great to hear positive feedback from the folks that we come out to entertain.
Does that link take me to the full-sized version of the picture of me and Aimee? If not, could you ask them to post it? I'd love to have it for the scrapbook.

Targ....see...what did I tell you ...
Artoo is a ham...
You could hear Artoo talking all the way out the big hangar entrance by the tarmac.
One of the organizers came up to Steve, Brian and I as we were out walking around...
and he reported that when Aimee, Cheryl, Brian, Fitz and Steve came walking out of the dressing room....strode across the hangar to where Jim and Emily had the booth set up....
they walked past the key note speaker as the speaker was addressing the participants of the event..
when our group passed...
all eyes, attention, and many of the people sitting listening to the speech were lost to the Star Wars group...lol...
Also...all $$ collected in the donation buckets for tatts was given to Prairie Air Museum...
and....btw...
Targ ..
my last name is Schulte...
lol..
I am not a "Schultz"...

lol..TB 0101 wrote:Thanks for everything, Targ! I hope our disruption wasn't irritating to the speaker I didn't even think about sneaking in until we were in the door and heads swiveled, but at that point it was too late. We'll time it better next year.
actually ...the event official who came up to us to relate the story of the key-note speaker's instant loss of everyone's attention when the Empire arrived thought it was hilarious.....
he didn't seem the least bit upset...

Now that last photo shows the work that the Air Museum does. When the Tomcat first got put out on display you could look up those plumes and see out the air intakes. I talked to John Ohler and thought with the talents of model builders in the club that we might want to help them do stuff like that. For example, there is NOTHING in the Tomcat's rooster. All the hydraulics are gone but if you could look into the rooster and actually see something that would be cool.
