IL-Bloomington-Prairie Air Museum 09-22-2007
It was a bright and sunny day in the seventies when we arrived on the tarmac and scouted out the display area that the folks from the Prairie Air Museum had set aside for us.
We set up our table and awaited our group to assemble. The crowd began to swell and we set up our tot tatoo station as well as our notebook to play the Legion Rose Parade DVD. This drew many people to our table.
Our team used the pilots locker room of "Image Air" a flight training company next to the museum. We appreciated a place to change.
Our members moved out into the crowd, stopping every few feet for a photo opportunity with a child or family.
Then the droids arrived. Like pied pipers of Hamlin, the children followed the droids out side and the children laughed and giggled with joy as the droids chirped and bleeped all around.
Children crowded the table for tatoos, some multiple times.
Rebel infiltrators attempted to make off with the antiquated aircraft thinking that any technology might give them an edge in their rebellion against the Empire. Little did they know that Imperial Technicians had already replaced the power systems of the aircraft with replica versions.
After the days festivities were were greeted by numerous members of the museum staff who were thrilled with the crowd reaction to our participation in today's event.
We retired for a meal at Flattop Grill in Bloomington.

Yes that was one fun time ! Glad i attended . But WHERE was that darn Grill at anyway ? The Wife and i looked all over the area for that thing and never found it . So we bailed and went to Ruby Tuesdays . I think you guys hid it behind some kind of super secret Empire Cloaking device ! Just so us Rebels couldn't find it .

but it was actually on Veterans Hwy which was several lights up and after you took a right....it was still a ways off...
but Princess Leia and our other crafty RFT (that would be me...lol) followed Skull One in their transports and caught up with the Imperials at the Grill...
I did say....boy...."Kevin is never going to find this"!
At any rate...
It was certainly a LOT of fun...
Thank you so much Jim and Emily for a really great day!
I am glad that I brought both the TK and the RFT...it was fun to change off in the middle of the day....

Homeland Security has a new meaning...
A group shot...
and...
who knew it was the RFT's that were the X-Wing Pilot's Flight Instructers...
that's my story..
and I am sticking to it!

We had a Blast . Seeing all of those smiling faces on those kids makes it all worth it . I must have posed for 2 dozen Pictures . And of course , sometimes the PARENTS are just as thrilled as are their Kids ! Star Wars is just one of those GREAT iconic Films . And we LOVE keeping the memory alive for folks.

Jim,
A big thank you to coming out to our event, you guys made it very awesome indeed.
We have heard nothing but positive comments regarding the event and the participation of your group at it. Your group is always a great attraction and we greatly appreciated of having your people take the time out of their daily lives to come out and entertain everyone.
We are working on an official thank you letter to everyone that participated and that will be coming later this week. I'll forward that off to you to send out to everyone in your group. I would also like to send a letter to the head of the Midwest Garrison as well as the head of the 501st Legion to give thanks and recognition for your support.
If you can provide me with the addresses to these places along with the people who attended I would like to send this letter out to give you guys the official thanks you deserve.
Next years event will be bigger and better, we have a entire year to plan it verses the 8 weeks we had to plan this event.
Thanks again Jim,
Brad Zipprich
