REMINDER: Forum & Site Upgrade
I will be starting the upgrade for both forum and main site beginning tomorrow, Monday, December 27. There WILL be downtime periodically and things not working correctly, so please don't freak or start sending "OMG WUT IS RONGG!!1!11!!!!????" messages
I don't expect the downtime to last very long, but the extra add-on features you're used to may not be available immediately. Those need to be added separately and in different ways.
The forum will be done first as the rest of the site won't be tied into the forum's database tables.

Re: REMINDER: Forum & Site Upgrade
I'm detecting a theme here, so this is posted in the hope that we can come a little bit back down to reality.
If you are unable to access certain sections you think you should be able to, please do not assume the worst! Because this software is vastly different from the previous version, permissions are handled differently. In effect, permissions are both expanded and simplified as compared to phpBB2.
Despite any personal opinions about Garrison management style, you are not being ostracized, kicked out, disciplined without being told, etc. It is a software issue that needs time to work out. There is also going to be a period of learning on all sides, both at the user and administration levels.
Again, a MAJOR software upgrade was done, I issued multiple warnings about things not working right, so please don't assume the Worst Possible Case Scenario. If you are unable to access areas of the forum, just post a thread to explain any errors you're getting and we will look into it (which can often be resolved with one or two clicks).

Re: REMINDER: Forum & Site Upgrade
Thank you Rome for helping out upgrading our site.
To all our members as Rome mentions, please let us know if anyone comes across something you think is not right. We value each of you as a member or guest and with an upgrade like this bugs are bound to come out of the woodwork.
We have an excellent team involved to assist in this transition. Either Rome, Norman 8114, or myself will get to your requests.
Thanks all and for those who were here when we went to PHP2 we had problems back then and had a great board after the bugs were worked out.

Re: REMINDER: Forum & Site Upgrade
We should probably spam out Rome's message via email.
Also, while thinking of spam, Vicky and Ed Silva need to be removed from the garrison member's group and put into the visiting 501st group (they've transferred to SoCal w/ their move), and pulled from the ToD and forum roster. We can then remove the anti spam group entirely. Also, send them each a copy of their listed ToD so they at least have it for their records. Thanks, web guys!

And then....
I'll get to changing their groups when I get my break later
I say we keep the antispam group, never know when it will be needed in the future,

Re: REMINDER: Forum & Site Upgrade
Email has been sent out to Garrison Members, Visiting 501st, and Rebel Legion Members. Wording was changed for the last two groups.

Never got a break but will change the groups for the users. You don't happen to have Ed's username handy.

Re: REMINDER: Forum & Site Upgrade
I found a quick fix for fixing the registrations, go edit the forum you need to fix in the admin panel, and copy permissions from the events forum.
