New Chicagoland Vader
Good morning all! Had a great time at Wizard World on Saturday and in my introducing myself to several of you; I was pointed to sign up here. I've been on the Sith Lords board since October when I started this madness and have been having a lot of fun. I'm working on an ESB Vader and am close to 90% done. Here quickly is a list of major parts and where they came from:
Dome: Modified Rubies
Chest Armor, shins, gloves: SA
Belt, Chest Box, Body Suit, Cloak and surcoat: All self made
Saber: Single LED mod for removable blade (thanks hasbro for too little too late...ha, ha)
Same story here as a lot of you I'm sure, been a fan since I was little; born a few months after Episode IV came out and was in line the first day (or night) that every movie came out. Started this out as a bit of fun for the winter months when I don't work and happened upon the Sith Lords forum and have been receiving help and suggestions of many in the MWG; including Arcturus, InvaderSith, etc. After seeing the help involved in the community and the great charitable endeavors the 501st is involved in, I would very much enjoy being a part of your Garrison. First things first, finish up Vader. I must admit, I do look the part in costume; I'm dead on 7ft tall in Vader...no lifts needed for my 6'8" frame...though a few pounds would be nice...but that's what padding is for, right?? After all, Vader could always use to be a little hotter of an outfit!
A few things left to be done...I'll throw up a couple of quick pics to give you an idea of where I'm at.

Welcome to the MWG boards!!!
I thought your chest armor was made by you . . . it sure doesn't look like SA.

Great, an even TALLER vader.
why do i have to be the 'short one' around here? LOLOLOL.
Welcome to the BEST darn GARRISON in the legion friend.
You've definilty come to the right place. If any of our members can assist you in your build, do not be afraid to reach out and ask.
We have about 6 vaders (I beleive) in our garrison and all can relate to your build in one fashion or another.
I am deeply sorry that I mssed you at WW this saturday, I had to attend a wedding so I cut out rather early.
But all in all, Weclome aboard trooper and I look forward to trooping with you soon!

Thanks so much for the fantastic welcome everyone! It was great to speak with you all and so very pleased to see the enthusiasm among your group! My first contact with the 501st was back when Episode I premiered in Chicago and there was a party at the Adler Planetarium. I was very impressed with the costumes and the number of members present! It was quite a party!
Thanks again for the welcome and yes, Arcturus, the chest armor pictured was the prototype done in craft foam. I got about half way through fiberglassing my sculpt and a deal too good to pass up came along. So I do have an SA set of armor that's just painted.
I know that if anything comes up, I can count on the crew here to help out. As I get closer, I'll post better pics for some honest feedback. Thanks again everyone, I'm thrilled to be this close.

I remember that Planetarium event . . . Wolfgang Puck was there! That was a really fun and great event — there were so many people there.jweger77 wrote:Thanks so much for the fantastic welcome everyone!
