Armor and Prop Madness - Armor Party! Sun 2/10/13

Post by jweger77 »

Okay...armor party is on!!! Sun 2/10/13. Start time of approx 10 am and going til 5 or 6. Location will be at the shop for work so we'll have plenty of good working space. Location is: Universal Reconstruction, 111 Erick Street #126, Crystal Lake, Il. Erick Street is located off Crystal Lake Ave, just a few blocks east of Main Street.

This would be open to 501st, Rebel Legion and definitely to prospective members as well. I really want this to be a welcome to those out there who are either working on something or who would like a chance to check things out for themselves. So put out the feelers...know someone who's interested? Wants a taste of what's involved on the costuming side? Direct them here. Know a newbie out there who could use some help? Send em here! I'd love to start this as an annual thing for the winter time...cause face it...winter sucks and you need something to do! Bring some armor out to work on it, see what other members are working on, or get some answers on that project you're working on or are thinking about.

Thoughts on lunch: collection for pizza or other stuff....

Bring something you might be looking to move...that resin blaster you've had for 4 years in your closet...or...whatever.

Post any ideas you may have as well here.

Contact me either here via PM or text/call me at 815-245-5612 with any questions.

Please register that you're coming here. I really need to know how many would like to come!

Spread the word!

Unusual schedules are annoying sometimes! I worked retail for 5 years and in Radio for a couple as well. Got to love an effed up schedule!

Cheryl said earlier that she'd be there as well. So you'll have a TB expert on hand!

Well I'm putting in for the day off, but I'm pretty sure that weekend is going to end up a black out weekend since the Surface Pro is getting released on the 9th...

I will definitely be going to this! I'm a fairly new recruit who is working on his Reserve Pilot / Imperial Crew uniform, so if any of you have a spare belt or hat you might want to unload, just let me know!

I'll also be bringing my jumpsuit if anyone would be interested in helping me make sure i have the pockets all right!

Bwah.. I want to come, but I don't have a costume I'm working on right now. Would it be weird if I just bring a Dremel and shave down a leftover piece of ABS, just to blend in?

I think I said I'd bring a dremel. Which IMHO, is the ULTIMATE seam ripper

Looks like we'll have a pretty good turn out! Which is awesome. Couple of things that would be great!

-if anyone has an extra folding table to bring that would br great. The more working space the better.
-ill be bringing a supply of tools along with me, if there is anything you need, I encourage you to bring them with you
-if anyone would like to bring some drinks, snacks, or whatever; feel free! I've got a commercial pop corn machine at work so we'll get that cranking too.

Any other ideas, suggestions?!?

I know we'll have Patrick out to work on his TK armor, Teds looking for some help with his TIE reserve pilot flight suit, and Kim needs help with her TB so anyone else who'd like to lend a hand with those...love to see ya!

I'll be bringing out some Chewie stuff to work on and for folks to check out.

Looking forward to this! I think Jessi and V are getting to the point of boredom with my latest 'I finally figure out how to make ________ on my costume stories. It will be nice to have some others to share things with!

Ill bring some snacks and stuff!

If anyone has a heat gun or something to heat my belt and ammo pack to get the bends right, I'd appreciate it. I don't have one. I think I will be mostly strapping and snapping by this point so anyone with tips and advice on that will be most helpful!

See you there!
